Powerful questions

Asking ourselves the right questions is a powerful transformation tool. It has the power to put our lives upside down and open our minds and imaginations to new horizons that we had totally ignored before, just because we were busy dealing with our trivial day to day lives.

I have a list of such questions that I have written in my journal and once in a while, I go to that page and meditate on the questions. They have really transformed my life through the years but my work with them is not done.  The questions don’t become futile and they don’t lose their power, instead they push me forward. Today I would like to share two of these powerful questions with you and guide you to meditate your way through them. The credit for these two questions and how to meditate on them goes to my beloved mentor Dr Martha Beck.

Ok ready?

I want you to close your eyes and just focus on your breathing.

Inhale… Exhale… Inhale… Exhale… Inhale… Exhale…

Then feel what brings you joy? Ignore your rational analytical mind, just FEEL. Pause your mental stories and get out of your head. Just feel your body and be in your gut. Feel what you meant to experience in this life?

Now ask yourself these questions:

  • How do I want to be different because I lived in this world?
  •  How do I want the world to be different because I lived in it?

Feel your way through these questions like there is absolutely no limitation in your life. Just imagine there is no barrier what so ever and you can do whatever you want. Then wait for what arises inside you and write it down before you rationalize or judge your answer.

Well done! Come back to your normal state and read what you have written. I bet it’s going to knock you off your chair!

Now get up, put your shit together and get all the support you can, call upon your tribe, this soul community perhaps, and begin the journey toward what brings you true joy and fulfillment. Just trust and jump, no matter how afraid you are. It ain’t easy, you are going to be on an intimidating and arduous journey.  Trust your gut and when you set out on your journey, remind yourself often that without the leap of faith we ain’t going nowhere! Also know that you are not alone, we belong to each other and we are here for each other, regardless of our geographical distance. Sister on! We   lift each other up.

“Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.”     –Rumi
